Items you can freeze
Before our freezer broke, I only bought bread every two-three months. When you find bread on sale, stock up! Bread can stay in the freezer for three months. At first I would just throw it in the freezer like it was but then seen that sometimes small holes were poked in it, probably from me digging around in the freezer. I started wrapping it in plastic wrap and then stuck a piece of masking tape on it with the date it was purchased.
Yes, you can freeze cheese. Once my freezer was stocked with shredded cheese because I was able to get them for 25 cents each. Cheese can be frozen up to six months. I just put the cheese in the fridge the night before I'm going to use it. Hard cheese will be crumbly after thawed so you may want to use it for cooking only, you will not be able to slice it. Just wrap it up and put it in a freezer bag and make sure you label it.
Can you believe that you can freeze eggs? It takes a little more work to freeze eggs. You cannot freeze the eggs in the shell. You first need to whisk together the eggs. Get an ice cube tray and measure out 3 Tablespoons into each section of the ice cube tray. Three tablespoons is equal to one egg. After the eggs are frozen then put them into freezer baggies. Make sure you label it with the date and how many eggs are in each bag. Eggs can be frozen up to 6 months. Thaw in the fridge.
You can freeze milk up to one month. When you put the whole jug in the freezer, remember that it will expand so leave it a little room. When you take it out, thaw it in the fridge and then shake it up real good. If you don't think you will use the whole jug shortly after thawing then just measure out cup fulls and freeze them in freezer containers or freezer bags.
Nuts will freeze up to 2 years. Just put them in a freezer container or freezer bag. You can thaw them at room temperature or in the fridge. If your using them to bake, just throw them into the recipe.
